Brien Holden

Chairman of the Board of Directors and President and CEO of Adventus, Brien Holden is a Professor at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), founder and Director of the Cornea and Contact Lens Research Unit at the School of Optometry and Vision Science, UNSW, CEO of Vision CRC and CEO of the Brien Holden Vision Institute.
Professor Holden has held numerous academic, professional and university appointments. He was a co-founder of the International Association of Contact Lens Educators, founding President-elect of the International Society for Contact Lens Research, a founder of the Optometric Vision Research Foundation and a founding Director of the Institute for Eye Research (now Brien Holden Vision Institute).
Professor Holden is active in international education and research and is the author of over 200 refereed papers. He is also heavily involved in international public health, being CEO of the International Centre for Eyecare Education and Chairman of the Board of Management of VisionCare NSW. He is Chair of the Refractive Error Working Group of the World Health Organization, and was founding Co-Chair of the Vision 2020 Australia group.
