Born from the Vision Cooperative Research Centre (Vision CRC), the world’s largest vision correction research centre, Adventus Technology Inc aims to further the development, approval and commercialisation of two new ophthalmic products which have the potential to both revolutionise the global ophthalmic device market and underpin a new era for the more than 50% of the world’s population who need vision correction.

In people over the age of 45 years, the natural ocular lens becomes rigid, losing its ability to change its shape sufficiently to allow the eye to focus at close distances. This condition is called presbyopia and has traditionally been addressed through the prescription of spectacles or contact lenses.
The Adventus Corneal Onlay is a product that is intended to correct all refractive conditions including, myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia.
Uncorrected myopia affects vision which impacts on learning and development. High myopia creates a significant risk of retinal malfunction capable of leading to vision loss.
Presbyopia is the inevitable loss of the ability to focus on near objects. Most people over the age of 45 need reading glasses because of this condition. Because the global population is ageing, 40% of the world’s population will soon be affected by presbyopia.
